As a Packaging Designer, you are the bridge between technical engineering and consumer experience. You will join an energetic, multidisciplinary team responsible for the entire development lifecycle—from the first conceptual sketch to high-volume mass production.
Your mission is to develop innovative, high-quality packaging that protects our high-tech products (like shavers and grooming tools) while reflecting the premium Philips brand. You will work in a fast-paced, international environment, collaborating daily with Marketing, Supply Chain, and global suppliers to ensure our packaging is "shelf-ready," user-friendly, and environmentally responsible.
Key responsibilities include:
- End-to-End Development: Designing functional and distinctive packaging solutions using 2D/3D CAD software.
- Prototyping & Validation: Creating physical prototypes in our state-of-the-art labs and supervising qualitative tests to ensure durability.
- Technical Engineering: Managing material selection (cardboard, plastics, bio-materials) and technical specifications within the C-PLM (Windchill) system.
- Sustainability Leadership: Actively reducing the environmental footprint of our packaging in line with Philips’ strategic green objectives.
- Risk Management: Using the V-model methodology and performing FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) to prevent production or shipping issues.
Functie-eisen
- To be successful in this role, you should bring a mix of technical rigor and creative problem-solving. We are looking for:
- Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience: 1–3 years of relevant experience in packaging development or functional product design. Experience within the consumer electronics or FMCG industry is a major plus.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in 3D CAD software (specifically Siemens NX or CREO). Knowledge of specialized packaging software like ArtiosCAD is highly valued.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of materials technology, manufacturing processes (DfM/DfA), and sustainable design principles.
- Languages: Professional command of both English and Dutch is required.
- Location: You must currently reside in the Netherlands and be willing to work on-site in Drachten at least 3 days a week (full-time during onboarding). Preference is given to candidates within a 1-hour commute.
Competenties
- Innovative & Creative: You think outside the "box" to find new ways to surprise and delight the consumer.
- Analytical Mindset: You can translate complex technical requirements into practical, robust designs.
- Proactive Communicator: You are comfortable presenting your ideas to international stakeholders and defending your design choices.
- Quality-Oriented: You have an eye for detail and a commitment to delivering "first-time-right" designs.
- User-Centered: You always keep the end consumer in mind, ensuring the unboxing experience is seamless and premium.
